Today's patrol on the net turned up a lot of good reading. Some of which I think effect AT testing in the case of the Vista article I am posting.

The dark corners of XML: So supporting an open standard means you support MS Word from 14 years ago? Yup. That and Word Perfect for the last 14 years as well. Read about this and other horrors behind legacy programming for the future.

One hundred dollar laptop runs Novel: While I have agreed in the concept that this $100 Laptop was a good idea the trouble shooting Tech Support at Xmas part of me has cringed greatly at the how, what and whys of making susch a device access friendly. Reading this CNN article didn't make me feel any better about it and I guess someone out there will be doing more Open Source development for AT some point down the line.

Sanddisk 32GB Flash Hard Drive: The gang at Sandisk has been talking about Solid State drives for half a decade. Looks like it's really going to happen now. Just imagine a Pac Mate or Braille Note with a 32 GB on board built in drive. Mmmmm...

MS Patch Tuesday 2007: 8 patches and most of them are labeled Critical.

Memory Test For Vista: Looks like this is a good thing and a bad thing. On one hand I am glad that Vista detects memory failures like the one described in the link. On the other hand Vista detects memory issues XP doesn't. What to do?.. What to .. do?

IT Sell Outs: Recently an Arizona college jumped from MS Exchange to Gmail almost overnight. One of the dangers of this, and say a Government on the East Coast jumping to ODF, anti Microsoft mentality in IT is that the changes made are almost always made out of spite towards the "evil empire". As a biproduct of this knee jerk to shed anything MS related people make suggestions that don't consider the issues of special needs populations or the non technical user. The link below doesn't really address this issue, however, what it does do is call out these IT professionals for being "sell outs". I am explaining it really poorly so read this one and see what you think.

Hi everyone  Was wondering one of you  knows what's going on here. I was looking for some wheels  for my Cavalier  on msn  and these sites came up in the search results . The thing is , when I click on them I don't go to that site. It takes me somewhere else. Is there something wrong with my puter? I was able to get here fine. Weird...  It's probably something simple but I've never seen this before. Any ideas?

This is just really insane to me. New DVD formats are coming out soon
that will not read old formats. Well, my Einstein
boyfriend (psuedo boyfriend, he owed me a lot of money a big present was to be expected) just bought a high end player for Xmas. Guess we'll
be giving it to the salvation army. If you got one for Xmas and haven't opened the box-- DON'T.

I am going to Singapore in just one week. All I know is that people have referred to it
as "Disneyland run by a Dictator". This is supposed to be a VACATION! Has anyone on here acually gone there for vacation?

Sorry for the rant, it's off-topic, but please do think about this. I have traveled in over 40 countries and as I now fly mostly in US, I now see that the majority of poor
countries make it easier to travel by air. It is a sad moment for me every time I go to an airport.

I was having one of those facial treatments last month. And while waiting for my turn, I tried to busy myself with the magazines
But I couldn't help overhearing these two girl friends talking to each other and my face went completely red. The first girl exclaimed, "you know what, I look at myself for a long time in the mirror each day, and I really appreciate what I see. Do you think I'm vain?" The other gal smiled sweetly and uttered, "I think you're imaginative."

some would think smart people can afford and are found flying the friendly skies. Not true. Some of the dumbest things, really most stupid, are done by people while they are in airports. So, if you are a techie or a king or mentally ill, I hope you are not one of the folks that is infected by the "dumb down" effect that flying has on people. Here is an article to get a hoot over some
of the famous cases for crazy people flying .
